olympius is a greek mythology, invite only gpsl set in current day new york city, new york. why new york and not say, greece? well, we've pulled inspiration from the riordan verse in that way. despite greece and greek culture being what is strived for, new york city is considered "the capital of the world," thus this is why it was chosen as the present day entrance to olympus.

in addition to nyc being the new olympus, demigods are very prevalent in the world and are able to be played as original characters.

it is also important to note that if you choose to play a deity, you are also playing the roman equivalent (ie: if you pick zeus, you will also be playing jupiter. hera will also be juno, etc etc). in addition, if the deity is a virgin deity, we ask that you keep them like that.

as this is a small gpsl, we do not have a character limit. however, if we feel you cannot keep up with your current cast, we will not let you bring in more.

banned deities: while we don't want to curb anyone's creativity, there are certain deities that will not be allowed to be played in olympius. this list includes deities that are canonically dead or imprisoned within tartarus and deities that do not have a greek equivalent. if you have a question about a specific deity, please reach out to the mods.

the titans: the titans (kronos, Hyperion, Iapetos, and Krios) are allowed in play, despite having been imprisoned in tartarus by zeus. in the lost play Prometheus Unbound, the Titans were eventually released from tartarus through the clemency of Zeus. this means that they have to follow the rules set by zeus and acknowledge him as their king.

the current kings and queens: zeus, hera, poseidon, amphitrite, hades, and persephone are the kings and queens, with Zeus being the King of All Gods. as these are key characters in the mythos, a player is only allowed to play one of these.

in order to apply, you need a journal (it can be ooc or ic, just make sure it is representative of your character), an ic contact post, and an ooc post with some basic information about your character in it (see this post for an idea for a layout. you do not need to use this!).

for the information posts, we require the following information to be present: deities

name of the deity, what their domain is, and a list of their abilities.

demigods

name of the character, who their deity parent is, a list of their abilities, any pertinent information you want us to know about them.

all deities and demigods share some similar abilities. however for specific deity abilities, please see these sites (depending on who you choose to play). see below for the shared abilities: deities

essence reading, telekinesis, telepathy, teleportation, shapeshifting, divinity, curse inducement, transmutation, divine aura, divine force/energy manipulation, divine form (death inducement), divine powers, divine presence, domain warping, immortality, supernatural condition, can only be killed by weapons created to kill gods (ie: zeus's lightning bolt)

demigods

extended lifespans, enhanced strength, fortitude, stamina, speed, harder to kill than a normal human, while they can still get sick and be poisoned, they normally recover from an illness faster and it takes significantly more of a poison or toxin to kill them

please keep in mind that when you're giving your demigod powers based on their godly parents, they need to match that parent.

update 8/26/2021: you are only allowed to have two characters total on hold and/or pending approval into the game at any time.

activity for olympius is simple! we only require one form of interactive activity a month. don't let this stop you from doing more, though! we're all here to have fun, but we do want the activity that is used for end of the month checks to be interactive (ie: not a narrative, private post, etc etc).

for new characters, your intro does count as your activity, however you must reply to the comments you receive on that intro post. the mods do monitor this and if you don't reply to the intro comments, your characters can and will be considered inactive and removed.

update 8/26/2021: in addition to one post per month, you must also reply to all initial replies to your posts. if you do not reply to the intial replies to your posts, they will not be considered usuable for activity.

don't be an asshole. don't cross ic and ooc. don't make nasty posts/comments. we don't tolerate this kind of behavior. even though this is a small gpsl, you can, and will, be removed.
